I was first introduced to the Navajo way of weaving, through a book, some 26 years ago while getting my degree in arts and crafts at San Jose State University. Appreciating the designs and colors used in Navajo Rugs, I took to this form of art immediately. The hand-crafted tools used, and portability of the Navajo loom, was another added attraction to me.

After graduation I continued my interest in this craft and sought out someone to teach me the authentic way of Navajo weaving. It was three years later that I made contact with Sarah Natani. She taught me to weave, spin, and color my yarn with plant dye.

A most enjoyable trip for my husband and I was to head to Navajo land, visiting with our friends, the Natani's, and searching out trading posts.
